American Legion Post 833 turns to Amramp to provide wheelchair accessibility for Vietnam Moving Wall
When the American Legion Post 833 in Hatfield, PA hosted the Vietnam Moving Wall, they turned to Amramp to provide wheelchair accessibility so veterans and other visitors would be able to view the Moving Wall while it was on display June 27 to July 1, 2013.
Nick Marcellino, owner of Amramp Philadelphia, was proud to have been chosen for this task. The Moving Wall was set up on a grassy lawn. The challenge was to provide a safe, steady surface for wheelchair users as well as for able-bodied visitors without blocking the view of the Wall. Nick and his installation team designed two parallel rows of ramp surface, one for entry and the other for exit. Each row had 300 feet of ramp surface to allow visitors safe access to view the names of the fallen warriors. The three-man installation team was able to install the 600 foot ramp in two days, even in the pouring rain on the second day. Post 833 was able to rent the ramp while the Moving Wall was on display.
American Legion Post 833 was so very excited to be hosting the Moving Wall and very appreciative that Amramp was able to provide the needed accessibility as a rental.
The Moving Wall is a half-size replica of the Vietnam Veterans National Memorial in Washington, DC, which has been touring the country for about thirty years. The Wall displays the names of 58,272 American military personnel who were direct casualties of the war.
